Youth Speaks: A Debate



To challenge your public speaking abilities and perform, persuade and entertain the audience with your display of wit and knowledge of a topic.

In teams of three participants present arguments and points of discussion, before taking questions from the judging panel who are, themselves, skilled orators.

Participants can select a topic which is important to them, giving them an opportunity to delve deep into research, formulate ideas and build confidence.


Club Chair of Community Service Stan Webb attended the Group 2 (Christchurch, Bournemouth, and Poole) Rotary Youth Speaks competition at Bournemouth School for Girls on the evening of Tuesday 7.2.23. He was impressed by the standard of the presentations from the teams on show.


In the Intermediate Competition the winners were Jude, Alessandro and Ben from Bournemouth School who addressed the tropic, ‘AI: The Perfect Future or Technological Torment?’


Second & third places went to Twynham A & B teams.


Twynham School continued their success in the Senior Competition with Maria, Tiana and Lucy who discussed the proposition that ‘Ethical Consumption is an effective means of change.’ Lucy received the award for the best individual speaker Second and third places in the main event went to Bournemouth School for Girls C & B teams.
