We are sad to announce that The Rotary Club of Bournemouth North Closed at the end of June 2025 and the Officers and members of the club would like to thank the amazing people of Kinson, Moordown and Winton for their support over the years.

The Club was formed in 1970 and for the next 55 years the members worked tirelessly to support the community of Kinson, Moordown and Winton in so many ways together with so many excellent charitable organisations in other parts of the world.

Many people in Kinson will remember the annual Donkey Derby and dog show held on Spring Bank Holiday Monday for nearly 40 years which became a regular event in everyone’s diary, and which raised tens of thousands of pounds to support local charitable organisations.

Whoever thought that “Golf in the Dark” would be a thing - but this also became a fixture each November at Queens Park Golf Club using fluorescent balls, with luminous flag posts and markers supported by our stalwart members along the course – and they will remember how cold November nights can be.

So many great memories including Tribute Nights at Dean Court and the Village Hotel, Curling at Rooper Hall in Moordown, Golf Days at Canford Magna Golf Course, the Annual Poppy Collection in Winton plus our Christmas and Easter Collections at Tesco in Kinson.

Our members will also remember with great fondness our twinning association with the Rotary Club of Chateau Gontier in France. For over 40 years our members enjoyed alternating visits between our two clubs making lifelong friends along the way.

Unfortunately, following the dreaded Covid Pandemic, like many other similar organisations, the club found it increasingly difficult to attract new members. That, together with the inevitable realization of the years catching up with our existing membership, it was decided to pull up the drawbridge after 55 amazing years.
