For those who enjoy their food and hope to do so for a long time to come then the future is looking good in the capable hands
of 13 budding young chefs who took part in the Rotary Group 2 Young Chef Competition held at the Escoffier Restaurant in Bournemouth on Friday 26th January.

The restaurant which is a part of the Bournemouth and Poole College at the Lansdowne has kindly hosted the event for a number of years and this year it was yet another great success.
13 Young Chefs from schools in the area took part and had to prepare a 3 course meal in 2 hours with ingredients costing no more than £15.00. The event is open to full time students between the ages of 11 and 17.
The competition aims are to encourage young people to:
- Learn how to cook a healthy meal
- Develop food presentation skills
- Consider food hygiene issues
- Develop organisational and planning skills
- Develop the ability to cope in a demanding situation
The judges were treated to a varied array of dishes all prepared in a professional kitchen and displayed beautifully for them to sample.
Other guests including many from the Rotary Clubs in Group 2 were impressed by the skill and hard work that had gone into the dishes presented.
After a great deal of discussion by the judges the results were announced as follows:-
WINNER – KIAN JOHNSON FROM OAK ACADEMY (sponsored by Bournemouth North Rotary Club)
Kian was presented with a Winners Certificate and a £40 Amazon Gift Card.

In addition arrangements have been made for Kian to visit AFC Bournemouth Football Club for a day to shadow the Chefs in the First Team Pavilion which should be a great experience.
