36 Golfers took to the bracing night air at the 2019 “Golf in the Dark” tournament at Queen’s Park Golf Club on Thursday 7th November. The event which was organised by the Rotary Club of Bournemouth North was a great success and over £600 was raised for Local Charities.
9 teams of four entered this year playing 5 holes of golf under a moonlit sky but otherwise in the dark using glowing balls. Illuminated coloured markers were strategically placed around the course indicating the fairways, bunkers and greens.
Members of the Rotary Club ably assisted by partners, family and friends helped to guide the players round the course and managed the event which included a welcome bowl of soup and a hot meal following play.
The winners of this year’s event were Dawns Lawns who tied with Richard Stalley Associates but were awarded the winners trophies on the countback method. In Third place were Light Relief skippered by David Fuller who have supported the event since its inception over 20 years go.
The “Nearest the Pin” Trophy was awarded to Nick Hall from the Light Relief Team.
