A great night was had by all at the Elton John Tribute Dinner Dance held at the Village hotel, Bournemouth on October 29th. Over 100 members, partners and guests danced the night away to the authentic sound of Gary Setterfield and his Elton John tribute performance.

Preceded by a two course dinner, over 100 guests were treated to the great hits of Elton John including Crocodile Rock, Candle in the Wind, Sacrifice, I’m Still Standing, Don’t go Breaking My Heart, Benny and the Jets, Don’t Let the Sun Go Down and many others.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Bournemouth North, all profits raised on the night will be donated to local Charities including the Principal Charity for the night which is the Bournemouth Hospital Charity supporting people with Dementia. Special guests included Maureen Todd, Public Governor of Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals together with her husband David.

This was the 17th event of its kind organised by the Club having raised many thousand of pounds for Rotary and other local charities over the past 10 years.

2019 Golf in the Dark

36 Golfers took to the bracing night air at the 2019 “Golf in the Dark” tournament at Queen’s Park Golf Club on Thursday 7th November. The event which was organised by the Rotary Club of Bournemouth North was a great success and over £600 was raised for Local Charities.

9 teams of four entered this year playing 5 holes of golf under a moonlit sky but otherwise in the dark using glowing balls. Illuminated coloured markers were strategically placed around the course indicating the fairways, bunkers and greens.

Members of the Rotary Club ably assisted by partners, family and friends helped to guide the players round the course and managed the event which included a welcome bowl of soup and a hot meal following play.

The winners of this year’s event were Dawns Lawns who tied with Richard Stalley Associates but were awarded the winners trophies on the countback method. In Third place were Light Relief skippered by David Fuller who have supported the event since its inception over 20 years go.

The “Nearest the Pin” Trophy was awarded to Nick Hall from the Light Relief Team.
