Rotarians Sue Slade and John Spurgeon have presented a cheque for £1,000 to the MS Society Bournemouth to go towards installing a CCTV System at the Osborne Centre, West Parley.

The system is urgently needed following a series of thefts from their Mini Bus Fleet while parked overnight at the Centre in Church Lane. Thieves have stolen the catalytic converters from the vehicles which has rendered them unusable until they can be replaced. Not only is there the expense if replacing the units which of course means an increase in insurance premiums but it also has a big affect on then centre users who are unable to get there for essential treatment and care.

The increase additional costs incurred by these thefts and the expense of installing a CCTV System is something that the centre can really do without as all of their costs have to be covered by fundraising and charitable donations as they are completely self-funding.

The donation made by the Rotary Club of Bournemouth North was raised at a Michael Bublé Tribute Dinner Dance held at the Village Hotel in Bournemouth during March which was attended by over 100 guests. This was the 16th event of this type held by the Rotary Club during the past 10 years which have raised over £30,000 for local organisations.
